Christian Resources Exhibition goes to Peterborough next Feb

CHURCH LEADERS WELCOME EXHIBITION TO PETERBOROUGH FOR FIRST TIME

(PETERBOROUGH -- 2.3.10) -- FORTY CLERGY and lay leaders meet at EXEC Peterborough today (Tue 2 March, 9am) - heralding the arrival of the Christian Resources Exhibition (CRE) to the east of England next year (Thur 24 Feb - Sat 26 Feb 2011).

Long-established as Europe's leading series of Christian exhibitions, it will be the first time CRE has been staged in Peterborough. Some 200 exhibitors are expected at the venue next year - displaying everything from pews to pulpits, computers to communion wine. A book and resource centre will be a focal point.

Thirty seminars will reflect issues of current concern to communities throughout the east of England. Up to 5000 visitors are expected to attend, representing regional churches of all mainstream denominations.

'We are delighted to bring CRE to the region for the first time in our 25-year history,' said executive chair Colin Saunders. 'Whether you are a youth leader or counsellor, church magazine editor or full-time minister there will be a host of new resources to discover.

'We are also keen to ensure our seminar programme covers key topical and regional issues - so our meeting today is about listening as well as informing.'

Tough topics already scheduled for discussion include 'Disappointed With Jesus: Why do so many young people give up on God?' Leading author Adrian Plass will ask if Jesus was a bad role model. 'Should we try to avoid the hard work, insecurity and disapproval that we are bound to face if we follow his example?' Plass contends.
